Are you suffering from the horrible pain of a toothache? It is important that you see your dentist as soon as possible before you face irreparable damage. In the meantime, try these successful toothache remedies to ease your pain temporarily.
Clove oil has been known to have painkilling and antibacterial properties, making it useful for alleviating toothache pain caused by cavities. To apply, simply place a small amount on the affected area. However, you should not use clove oil in excess, and should only use it for short periods of time.
Peppermint tea can relieve your toothache with it’s numbing and cooling properties. Apply a cooled tea bag to the affected area. Swishing the tea around in your mouth has also been found to be successful in relieving pain.
Hydrogen Peroxide Rinse
Hydrogen peroxide can help kill pain-causing bacteria in the mouth. Mix 3% hydrogen peroxide with water and swish the mixture in your mouth for 30 seconds. Rinse and repeat as needed, but DO NOT SWALLOW.
Cayenne Pepper Powder
Pour the powdered ingredient into a bowl and add a couple drops of water to make a paste. Saturate a cotton ball in the paste and place it on your affected tooth. The paste can be irritating to the gums, so make sure to keep the cotton ball on the tooth only.
Garlic is similar to an antibiotic and it can restrain the growth of the bacteria that may be attacking your tooth. Garlic can be used two ways: crush a garlic clove and a little salt together, and apply it to your throbbing tooth, or pop a clove into your mouth and chew. Repeat a couple of times per day.
Alcohol is a numbing agent and is one of the key ingredients in vanilla extract. The scent of vanilla has also been known to be soothing and relaxing, which can help ease the pain. You can either place a tiny bit on your finger and rub the aching tooth or gum area, or pour a little vanilla extract on a cotton ball and place it on the affected area. Repeat two or three times per day.
